In the Google Play Store (and outside of it), you can find a wide variety of emulators for Android, from classic consoles like the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance or PlayStation 2, although AetherSX2, the best emulator for this console, recently lost its main developer, to more current consoles like the successful Nintendo Switch.
In this regard, until now, one of the few classic consoles that did not have a stable emulator on Android was the PS Vita, but that is going to change in a matter of hours. Developer Macdu announced in the Discord channel of his project that tomorrow at 11:00 AM Spanish time, he will release Vita3K PlayStation Vita, an Android emulator for Sony’s popular handheld console.
Vita3K PlayStation Vita: all the information
The first thing you should know is that, for obvious reasons, Vita3K PlayStation Vita will not be available for download through the Play Store. Instead, you will have to download the APK file from its Discord channel and install it on your Android phone.
Regarding the minimum requirements your phone must have to run this emulator, the developer of Vita3K PlayStation Vita has confirmed that your smartphone will need to have Arm64, Vulkan 1.0, and Android 7.0 or a later version.
Although nothing has been mentioned about the processor, storage, and RAM needed to use this emulator, you should know that the creator of this PS Vita emulator for Android has used a POCO F3 equipped with a Snapdragon 870 chipset for its development.
Macdu has confirmed that devices with Snapdragon processors and an Adreno 600 GPU or a later version will have an advantage when using this emulator, as they will be able to use the open-source graphics driver Turnip to improve speed.
Additionally, the developer explained that if your phone simply meets the minimum requirements, you’ll be able to play 2D games without issues, but not all available titles.
