During the Community Day of March, it’s Slowpoke and its Galarian form that will be featured in Pokémon GO. Slowbro and Slowking will also be part of the event, and all will appear in their shiny versions. Take advantage of a bunch of bonuses to catch the dopey Pokémon, and seize the opportunity to evolve it and teach it an exclusive attack.
Pokémon GO Slowpoke Community Day
On Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 2 pm to 5 pm (local time), Pokémon GO players will be able to encounter Slowpoke, the Water and Psychic-type Pokémon from the first generation, as well as its Galarian form and the forms of its evolutions, Slowbro and Slowking. All forms will be available in shiny versions, including Galarian Slowpoke and its evolutions, which will be available for the first time in Niantic’s game in their shiny forms.

As part of the event, you can access the Special Research “Research Report: Slow and Slower” for a price of €1. This Special Research will not include a medal, and tickets are non-refundable, but you can donate tickets to your friends, as long as you are Great Friends or higher. To do this, simply go to the Shop and select the event you are interested in. Then, press the Gift button and select the person to whom you want to give the ticket. You cannot give a ticket to someone who already has one, and donations are limited to 20 paid tickets per day.
A Timed Research will also be available during the event. It will not only allow you to encounter Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke but also receive up to 4 King’s Rocks to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking.
Slowpoke Community Day event bonuses
The March 2023 Community Day offers many bonuses for all players! For example, Incense (except daily Adventure Incense) and Lure Modules activated during the event will last 3 hours instead of the usual 30 minutes. Catch XP will be tripled, catch candies will be doubled, and trainers level 31 and higher will have twice the chance to receive XL Candies when catching Slowpoke!
Trainers will also have access to 1 additional Special Trade up to 5 hours after the event ends, bringing the total to 2 Special Trades for March 18, 2023. Moreover, trades made during this period will require half the amount of Stardust. Additionally, if you spin PokéStops and open gifts during this day, you can get exclusive stickers, which can also be found in the Shop, along with the new Slowpoke Hat and Slowpoke Tail T-shirt for your avatar. And as always, a surprise awaits those who take some photos during this Community Day!
Unique four-star Raid Battles will also be available after the event ends, from 5 pm to 10 pm (local time). During these raids, you will have the opportunity to face Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke. Each victory in one of these Raids will spawn more Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke within a 300-meter radius of the concerned Gym for a period of 30 minutes! With a little luck, you might encounter their shiny forms. Note that these Raids will only be accessible with Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes.
Also, note that all trainers will have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Slowpoke and Shiny Galarian Slowpoke.
Exclusive Attack for Slowpoke Community Day
During Pokémon GO’s Slowpoke Community Day, you will have the opportunity to catch Slowpoke and evolve it into Slowbro or Slowking, and thus obtain an exclusive attack! Note that to evolve your Slowpoke into Slowbro, you will need 50 Candies. To evolve it into Slowking, you will need 50 Candies and 1 King’s Rock.

As for Galarian Slowpoke, its evolution method has been slightly modified for the event. Normally, you must choose your Galarian Slowpoke as your Buddy and catch 30 Poison-type Pokémon to obtain a Galarian Slowbro, while catching 30 Psychic-type Pokémon to obtain a Galarian Slowking. During the Community Day and until 10 pm, the evolution method will be the same for both Galarian Slowbro and Galarian Slowking: catch 30 Psychic-type Pokémon, and you can choose the evolution you want.
