Required Level: 11
You will unlock this quest automatically after completing the main quest “The Lunar Complaint of the Caretaker.” This is a collectible quest that you can do while exploring the rest of the game.
The Man Behind the Moons
As Gladwin Moon explained in his dedicated quest, you will need to search for Demiguise Statues all around the castle, as well as in Hogsmeade and the Highland hamlets. Be careful, as these will only be visible at night. To speed up time until sunset, you can open your map and press the button associated with the “Wait” command indicated at the bottom of your screen (R3 on PS5). There are 10 in Hogwarts, 9 in Hogsmeade, and 11 in the Highlands (1 per hamlet).
When you have found 9, return to Gladwin Moon, and he will teach you level 2 of Alohomora. This should allow you to break most of the padlocks in the castle. You will then need to find 13 more for Moon to teach you level 3. Below is the location of all Demiguise Statues by region:
Hogwarts
Astronomy Wing
Demiguise Statue #1
From the Floo Flame in Professor Fig’s classroom, enter the room and go to his office at the back to find the Demiguise Statue next to the fireplace.
Demiguise Statue #3
From the Floo Flame in the Bell Tower Courtyard (Bell Tower Wing), go up the stairs on your left and pass the wooden door in front of you. Go down the new staircase and continue until you reach the sleeping dragon statue. From there, turn right and open the first door on the left with Alohomora (level 1). You will find the Demiguise Statue on the right upon entering.
Demiguise Statue #3
On the ground floor of the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower, use Alohomora (level 2) to pick the lock on the door. You will find the Demiguise Statue just in front when you enter.
Bell Tower Wing
Demiguise Statue #1
From the Floo Flame at the North Exit of Hogwarts, stay within the school grounds, face the castle, and follow the wall on the left until you reach a locked door. Open it with Alohomora (level 1) to find the Demiguise Statue inside.
Demiguise Statue #2
Go to the Magical Creatures Classroom and open the door to the hut with Alohomora (level 2). The Demiguise Statue awaits you on a table in the room on the right as you enter.
The Great Hall
From the Floo Flame in the Great Hall, approach the southwest corner of the room to find a door locked with a padlock. Use Alohomora (level 1) to break it, and retrieve the Demiguise Statue inside.
Library Annex
Demiguise Statue #1
From the library, enter the reserve and go all the way down. You will find the Demiguise Statue just before the door leading to the storage room, placed on a desk.
Demiguise Statue #2
Go to the Divination Classroom and climb all the way up to the classroom. You will find the Demiguise Statue placed on Professor Onai’s desk.
Demiguise Statue #3
From the Floo Flame in the Bell Tower Courtyard, go through the large door to the southeast using Alohomora (level 1), then use Alohomora (level 2) on the door in the middle of the main hallway. The Demiguise Statue awaits you inside.
South Wing
From the Floo Flame in the Teachers’ Tower, go to the end of the hallway and descend the spiral staircase. Turn right when you see the Map of Argyllshire hanging on the wall, then left at the corner, and stop in front of the boys’ restroom door. Destroy the lock with Alohomora (level 1), enter, and take the middle door marked “Out of Order” right behind the fountain. You will find a secret passage leading to the Demiguise Statue.
Hogsmeade
Demiguise Statue #1
In the Tomes and Scrolls shop, go behind the seller to enter the back room. The statue awaits you on a dresser.
Demiguise Statue #2
At the Hog’s Head Inn, head towards the room behind the bar to find the statue prominently displayed.
Demiguise Statue #3
From the alley leading to the Hog’s Head Inn, use Alohomora (level 2) on the first door on the left. You will find the Demiguise Statue upstairs.
Demiguise Statue #4
Just to the right of Pippin’s Potions shop, open the door of the house with Alohomora (level 2) and go upstairs to retrieve the Demiguise Statue.
Demiguise Statue #5
In the private room of the Three Broomsticks, on the third floor. You will need to use Alohomora (level 1) to open the door and retrieve the Demiguise Statue on the table.
Demiguise Statue #6
Right next to the Gaichiffon shop, on the right, you will find a blacksmith. Go inside to find the Demiguise Statue on the counter.
Demiguise Statue #7
Directly across from the Pique & Peck shop, use Alohomora (level 1) to open the door and pick up the Demiguise Statue on the fireplace.
Demiguise Statue #8
Use Alohomora (level 1) to open one of the houses behind the Honeydukes shop. The Demiguise Statue is on a table inside.
Demiguise Statue #9
Face the Three Broomsticks and take the path along its right side until you come across a locked door. Use Alohomora (level 1) to open it and retrieve the Demiguise Statue upstairs.
Highlands
Pitt-upon-Ford Statue
In the large house to the west of the village, go up to the top floor to retrieve the Demiguise Statue.
Campolard-en-Haut Statue
From the village well, open the northwest house with Alohomora (level 1) to find the Demiguise Statue on the table inside.
Aranshire Statue
Open the house just to the left of the village’s Floo Flame using Alohomora (level 1) and pick up the Demiguise Statue upstairs.
Campolard-en-Bas Statue
In the house closest to the village’s Floo Flame, you will find the Demiguise Statue just to the left upon entering.
Bourg-Garenne Statue
In the northwest-most house of the village (you’ll recognize it by the buffalo just to the right of it), you will find the Demiguise Statue just to the left upon entering.
Pont-Désir Statue
Open the westernmost house in the village using Alohomora (level 1). You will find the Demiguise Statue right across from the entrance.
Feldcroft Statue
Open the southeasternmost house in the village using Alohomora (level 2). You will find the Demiguise Statue on the windowsill to the left upon entering.
Irondale Statue
Enter the house just to the upper right of the village’s Floo Flame. You will find the Demiguise Statue right next to the stove, on the other side of the counter.
Grottaleau Statue
Note that if you’re trying to get the last three Demiguise Statues (Grottaleau, Bainbourg, and Cragcroft) before receiving the main quest “In the Shadow of the Mountain,” you may not have yet visited the southeastern part of the world map. To access it, you’ll have no choice but to go through the Coastal Cavern via the Medium Bandit Camp to the south of Southsea Marsh.
Once in Grottaleau, use Alohomora (level 1) to open the house in the center of the village. Inside, you will find the Demiguise Statue behind the counter on the left.
Bainbourg Statue
Use Alohomora (level 1) to open the house to the north of the village. You will find the Demiguise Statue on a bedside table next to an armchair, on the left upon entering.
Cragcroft Statue
Enter the northwest-most house in the village, right next to Bella Navarro’s shop. You will find the Demiguise Statue upstairs.
Quest Conclusion
Several dozen minutes after learning Alohomora up to level 3 with Gladwin Moon, you will receive an Express Owl from a certain Mr. Piers Pemberton. Visit him in Hogsmeade by following your enchanted compass to continue this quest.
You will then learn a bit more about the man behind these cursed statues and the reasons that led him to place them here and there around Hogwarts. Once the conversation is over, return to see Gladwin Moon in the castle, still in the corridor of the Professors’ Tower. This will conclude the quest.
