Do you want to venture into the Catacombs of Black Knives but don’t know how to get there? In this Elden Ring guide, we have the solution.
The Catacombs of Black Knives are relevant in many ways. You can find the Black Knife Glyph, an essential item to progress an NPC’s story in Elden Ring. But that’s not all, as the dungeon boss will allow you to collect another item that will greatly assist you in your adventure, at least if you have a faith build.
So, if you want to go there and emerge victorious, here is a guide that will help you do it.
Where are the Catacombs of Black Knives located?
The Catacombs of Black Knives are located northeast of Liurnia. There are two ways to reach this place: either by descending the platforms from the second Tower of the Proselyte’s Arrow, or by starting from the “Ruined Labyrinth” grace site.
Access to the dungeon is blocked by a Mausoleum Knight. You won’t be able to enter the catacombs until he’s taken care of.
Which NPCs are linked to this dungeon?
The Catacombs of Black Knives will allow you to progress in two different quests. By exploring the dungeon, you will be able to find the Black Knife Glyph, a key item for Rogier’s quest. Then, by defeating the boss of these catacombs, you can collect a Mortefleur, a useful resource for recovering bestial incantations from Gurranq.
Where to find the Black Knife Glyph?
If you’re looking for this item, here’s a quick explanation of its location.
The Black Knife Glyph is held by an assassin lurking in the upper part of the dungeon. To find him, head to the room with the guillotines (at the back right of the first hallway after the boss door). The second blade will allow you to access the upper part of the dungeon by going up, so stand on the left of it to easily reach the small terrace (avoiding, of course, getting hit by it).
Once you’re up there, continue on your way, then when you reach a dead-end, strike the wall blocking your path, as it is an illusionary wall. To collect the object of your desires, you just have to defeat the assassin in this secret room.
What to do with the Black Knife Glyph?
The Black Knife Glyph will be useful to you after various events with Rogier. First, you must discover the hidden face of Valorage, then discuss it with Rogier. Once he gives you the identity behind this horrible face, you can give him the Black Knife Glyph. Once this step is completed, just reload the area, and Rogier will give you a new objective.
How to reach the boss room?
Whether you’re interested in the Black Knife Glyph or not, we’ll still explain how to get to the boss room.
Go to the upper part of the dungeon. You can reach it by using the second blade in the guillotine room (at the back right of the first hallway after the boss door) as an elevator. To do this, stand on the left side of the blade and jump to reach the terrace.
Continue on your way until you encounter many skeletons in a hallway. Behind a skeleton archer to the right, there will be a small opening, just go through it without too many questions. You will then fall into the catacombs’ sewers.
Just behind you, you can activate the boss door lever, then a second lever will allow you to open the gate separating you from the other part of the sewers.
